When you choose Ellis Fall Safety Solutions to conduct your Tower Climber Competent Person Training course, you’re choosing the best, most cost-effective approach to assure you and your facility receives the highest-quality competent climber training course. This interactive course spans two days—the first session being conducted at your classroom’s facility, following the course manual and the second session at your nearby tower facility, engaging in hands on demonstrations. Students are required to bring their own personal fall arrest equipment for use in these demonstrations. To successfully complete this course and receive a tower climber certification, registered students will have to complete both days successfully.
Our competent climber training course is intended for individuals whose job requires them to actively climb or supervise climbers. When you enroll in this course, you can expect to learn fall protection procedures, rules, training and development of site-specific applications and then complete a Test of Knowledge.
You will have a basic understanding of the following areas after you receive your tower climber certification:
- How to prevent or eliminate fall hazards
- Best practices and applications for horizontal (edgework, roofs) and vertical work (tower climbing)
- Maintenance, inspection and proper use of personal fall arrest systems
- Fall protection standards, regulatory basis and their applications in the workplace
- Experience and confidence with hands on demonstrations to better identify and control possible fall hazards
- “First person up” climbing methods
- Rope utilization, selection and inspection and necessary lifting tools and materials
Once the course is completed, students will be considered competent in their climbing rescue training and will receive a tower climber certification from their employer that is applicable until the expiration date.
